Barbara Chami
Barbara Chami is a research associate and survey specialist at CID, where she uses qualitative and quantitative methods to support studies on civic engagement, elections policy and inclusive governance. Prior to her position at CID, Chami worked in the field of sustainable food systems, advocating for fair policies for undocumented farmworkers and for increasing farmer access to federal and state conservation grants, as well as serving as a food justice educator. Prior to that, she worked in Malawi and Myanmar, training farmers on qualitative research methods and helping facilitate farmer-to-farmer training on agroecological practices. Chami earned her bachelor’s degree at San Francisco State University and graduate degrees from both New York University and Cornell University. Outside of work, you can find her refinishing vintage furniture and baking sourdough bread with local grains.
